Flyers Are So Dirty That They’ll Take Out Their Own Players

The Steve Downie sucker punch on Jason Blake is getting most of the headlines but it wasn’t the only incident of the game, which also saw Derian Hatcher go after Alexander Steen for an open-ice hit and smoking Joffrey Lupul in the process. I don’t know what he’s thinking but do the Flyers really need more trouble than they’re already in? Another leaving-your-feet hit? Flyer’s management must have a serious headache right now.

Ed, I don’t know if it’s fair to say that Hatcher purposely left his feet on this hit. It looks to me as if he was catapulted up and over Steen.

Who knows, maybe Steen was even clever enough to know that with a little bend at the knees he could toss Hatcher onto Lupul.

Reminded me of a WWE tag team match where one wrestler inadvertently takes out his partner. Steen should have quickly scurried behind Hatcher and rolled him over for the easy pin - of course remembering to hock the leg.

Cheers,
PTrig
